The rapid development of technology has transformed the media landscape, with young people now being digital natives who frequently use mobile devices and social media.

A Eurostat report from 2022 revealed that 96% of Europeans aged 16-29 use the internet daily, and 68% engage with social media. Despite these benefits, there are significant risks, such as online harassment, misinformation, and mental health challenges.

Studies highlight a growing mental health crisis among adolescents linked to excessive social media use, with symptoms like depression and anxiety becoming more common.

The Mind Over Screens project, launched by six organisations across Europe, aims to address these challenges by empowering youth workers and young people.

The project focuses on media literacy, digital habits, and the influence of social media through gamified learning. It targets youth workers and vulnerable young people (14-25) by providing training, interactive tools, and awareness campaigns to promote responsible digital engagement.

Additionally, the project aligns with the Erasmus+ Programme and the EU’s Digital Education Action Plan, aiming to enhance digital skills and foster safe online practices among young people.
