Mind Over Screens Project:
Local Training of Trainers

During the Mind over Screens Local Training of Trainers, both teachers and young people participated in a comprehensive program covering six modules focused on digital competence, safety, and responsible online engagement.

Each module addressed a specific aspect of navigating the digital world, combining practical knowledge with real-life examples and interactive learning.

The first, “Digital Citizenship and Online Ethics,” raised awareness of ethical dilemmas in the online environment and helped participants gain confidence in applying responsible practices online.

The second module, “Online Safety and Privacy Protection,” focused on real-life examples such as hacking, phishing, and grooming. Participants were guided through these scenarios as observers and introduced to various practical tools.

The third module, “Critical Media Consumption,” helped participants understand the differences between misinformation, disinformation, and fake news.

It also ensured they were able to assess the credibility and trustworthiness of digital content and sources, as well as identify different types of media bias and manipulation techniques, especially framing, emotional appeal, and clickbait.

The fourth module, “Digital Footprint Management,” focused on teaching methods for maintaining a positive digital footprint (Permission, Profile, Privacy, Protect, Positive). It emphasized that once information is shared on the internet, it remains there permanently.

The fifth module, “Digital Wellness and Self-Care,” taught the group about healthy online behaviour, media consumption, and addiction, especially among minors. It also presented strategies for balancing screen time and practicing self-care.

The sixth module, “Empowerment and Advocacy,” aimed to build confidence in discussions and advocacy related to digital rights and policies. Participants enhanced their skills in digital activism, creative content creation, and fostering a positive online impact.

Overall, the training equipped participants with essential digital skills, increased their awareness of online risks and responsibilities, and strengthened their ability to think critically, act safely, and contribute positively in the digital environment.
